“廣東省濕地保育” 講座

慶祝研究院周年紀念,扶輪百周年紀念濕地研究院與廣東省林業局野生動植物保護辦公室及香港城市大學生物及化學學系合辦「廣東省濕地保育」講座。此講座將於二零零八年二月二十三日(星期六),上午九時至下午一時假香港城市大學十八號演講廳舉行。 

講座目的讓香港市民對國內特別是廣東的濕地保育狀況有初步之認識,同時亦為廣東的濕地保育作推廣,並共同探討發展及合作之空間。

Seminar on
"Wetland Conservation in Guangdong Province"

For celebrate its anniversary, the Rotary Centennial Institute for Wetland Conservation will be organizing a seminar on “Wetland Conservation in Guangdong Province” jointly with Guangdong Provincial Wildlife Conservation Office and Department of Biology and Chemistry, City University of Hong Kong on 23rd February 2008 (Saturday) at 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lecture Theatre LT-18, City University of Hong Kong.

The aim is to raise public awareness of wetland in Guangdong and provide a platform for discussion on their conservation and possible future cooperation with Hong Kong. There will be five speakers from the Guangdong Provincial Forestry Department who will give presentations on the status of wetlands in Guangdong Province, and the conservation work at the major wetland sites.

Field Trip to the Closed Area

The Institute will organize a “Field Trip to the Closed Area” on 13th January 2008 which will be guided by Dr. Ip Wai Cheung, the Representative of Lin Ma Hang Village within the Closed Area, to allow participants to enter the restricted area and learn more about the cultural heritage and the natural environment of this unique area.

29th September 2007

The Rotary Centennial Institute for Wetland Conservation will organize a field trip to Long Valley and Mai Po Nature Reserve on 29th September 2007 (Saturday).

The trip is a follow-on activity of the HKIE workshop on “Restoration, creation and enhancement of wetlands in HK” on 14th July 2007. In the workshop, different case studies of wetland restoration, creation and enhancement works including those at Long Valley and Mai Po, were discussed to show how such works can maintain or increase the biodiversity of that area. This visit will allow participants to experience at first hand the works being carried out in Long Valley and Mai Po respectively, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of these two areas can also be viewed.

14th July 2007

The Rotary Centennial Institute for Wetland Conservation will be co-organizing a workshop on “Restoration, creation and enhancement of wetlands in Hong Kong” with the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers on 14th Jul 2007 (Saturday) from 9:15am to 1pm. This is also a CPD course of HKIE.

In this workshop, representatives from green groups, the private sector and Government have been invited to discuss their work on the restoration, creation and enhancement of wetlands in Hong Kong.
