15 June 2005 Luncheon        

Ms Lee Chih-ying, Park Director, Planning Division, Guandu Nature Park, Taipei, comes to our luncheon straight from the airport upon touching down to give a talk on her park and her enviromental and conservation projects.
   
Dr. Lew Young, Manager, Mai Po Nature Reserve, WWF Hong Kong, Area 5 club presidents and members attended the luncheon. Ms Lee is Dr. Young's guest.
         

Learning from Ms Lee that the wetlands in her park is a favorite stop-over place for many waterbirds including the black-faced spoonbill, acting luncheon Chairman Perry Yu quickly finds and presents a Black-faced Spoonbill pin to Ms Lee as souvenir. The black-faced spoonbill is the Area 5 Rotary Centennial Project symbol.

AG Ada Cheng talks about the District Rotary Centennial Gobi Race/March in Dunhuang, Gansu, China, in September 2004, which was held to raise funds for PolioPlus.
 
Ada also traces the history of the race back to the first run of its kind the year before, shows breathtaking photos of the desert scenery, ...
 
,... and recounts some of the climatic and physical challenges the participants faced and overcame.

4 May 2005 Luncheon        

Visiting Rotarian Dr Ikeda Tetsuro of Rotary Club of Owari Chuo 尾張中央, District 2760, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, introduces his club banner, and invites us all to visit the 2005 World Expo Aichi Japan this year.  
 
Dr Ikeda, a cardiologist, speaks on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
 
         

Dr Ikeda Tetsuro has come to us through his wife Dr. Ikeda Reiko, who visited us three years ago and remembers the hospitality she received from PP Anthony Chan.
 
Dr Ikeda Tetsuro and Dr Ikeda Reiko brings beautiful books on Aichi and Kyoto for our perusal.
 
Dr Ikeda Reiko shows us the photo we took of her and PP So Kin Shing on her previous visit - no excuse for PP So Kin Shing not to take a picture with an old friend again.

PP Simon Yung Yung speaks about his new book
點滴浮生詩集 and describes the long creative path he has trodden.
   
Simon also reads his poem written to commemorate the Rotary Centennial but which was too late to get into press.
         

When VP Francis asks Simon what he means by 竟然也讓我看到了人世間的一些浮浮沉沉 ... ... Simon elucidates with a much somber tone ...
