President's Message  

This year,“Service Above Self” is the slogan for Rotary International.  It means that our service to the community should be above our own self-interests or even above what we believe we can do.  

With all our club members' efforts and support, the Rotary Club of City Northwest Hong Kong has actually been practicing this for many years. With the hard work of our past presidents and your dedication, we have indeed achieved a lot. It is not just club services and fellowship; it is above and beyond the call of many club members in contributing their time, effort and money to make things happen.  We have a lot of projects that we are proud of, such as donation for building a school in Hunan, China, the Rotary Centennial Institute for Wetland Conservation at Mai Po, Hong Kong, and so on.  

As one of our club's charter members and now your president, I sincerely ask for your pledge to attend all the activities we are organizing this year and also offer suggestions and advice so that we can grow stronger and move in the right direction. I have only been through the first month of my term of office, and I have already learnt so much about the work of Rotary that I was not aware of.  Contributing as much as I can to launch all the initiatives with my board of directors is my commitment. I urge you all to offer your unfailing support, your care and love for the club, so that we will be able to achieve outstanding results that we can all celebrate and cherish for many years to come.  Thank you all in advance!  

Tentative Plan for 2005-06

Community Service
- Education: Biliteracy and Trilingualism, Signs for the Blind
- Water: Quality of Water, Wells in Mongolia
- Environment: Rotary Centennial Institute for Wetland Conservation  

Club Service
- Family of Rotary
- Family outings
- Golf tournament and sports events, etc.  

Vocational Service:
- Corporate and factory visits, including:
- KCRC Control Centre and Cathay City in Hong Kong
- paper factory in Jiangmen, Guangdong, etc.

International Service:
- Visit to Rotary Taipei Chungshan, Taiwan
- Sisterhood pact signing with New Geumgang Rotary Club, Korea
