Thoughts of the Governor Elect

In less than 24 hours' time, I will be with more than 500 other Governors Elect from all over the world. Many Past District Governors told me with a reminiscing smile on their faces that it was such a memorable and meaningful experience they had at the International Assembly where Governors Elect are trained over more than a week.

Imagine to spend all those days together in workshops and seminars to discuss and share ideas of how to serve better and to rekindle the Rotary spirit is something truly worth doing in February--the Month of World Understanding and Family week, all very appropriate and timely as well with the Lunar New Year coming up soon. Meeting with members of the Joint Interact Council before the start of the Interact Conference made me realize how meaningful youth work is. They articulated well and worked out their speeches and presentations in the most organized and capable manner. It was obvious that the Interact Sub-committee Chairman and Deputy Chairman worked so well that they showed by being themselves, they were actually setting very good role models for the Interactors.

To extend on what I reflected, I strongly believe if Rotarians made an observation of what have been achieved in what we have been serving, and how other Rotarians in other Clubs and in other countries doing, we would understand that all our efforts given is truly realized by the recipients. The consequences thus become our sources of motivation as well! I so look forward to embrace the coming experience in Anaheim, USA!!

From your Governor Elect,
Gloria
