Going
through the first part of the Governor's training
at Kuala Lumpur was a most mind-stimulating experience.
Receiving information of the latest in RI, sharing
new ideas and queries with fellow Governor Elects
from Zone 4 B and 6 B, and most of all, in the
process of learning, I managed to formulate some
improvements and actions to be taken in due course.
It
gets closer to the end of the year now. It also
means closer attention goes to vigorous planning
on training new leaders in the district and in
the clubs. From July 2002, it becomes mandatory
for all in-coming Assistant Governors, District
Officers and District Committee Chairmen to go
through at least a one-day long training seminar,
the District Leadership Plan. This, I believe,
is welcome by all conscientious and motivated
leaders with the wish to do a better job equipped
with the training. Rotarians besides having the
hearts to serve others, do uphold the quality
in the ways we do things, and strive to improve
the means to run the Clubs and the District.
The
Vocational Service Seminar was held at the club
meeting of RC of Peninsula. I was pleasantly surprised
by PDG Arthur Au, Chairman of the District Vocational
Service's invitation to share my views of my plans
in this area. Within a few minutes, ideas that
have been swimming in my mind for some time got
the opportunity to succinctly flow out to over
120 Rotarians of my plans on motivating and taking
actions on clubs and district levels as well as
bringing Rotary ideals into each of the Rotarians
professions
and business.
I
was invited to join in the re-union of the IPPs
of 2000-2001 at the Royal Yacht Club for cocktails
and dinner. It was so nice to see hard-working
presidents come to some rest and looking relaxed.
Their sheer presence showed their care and concern
of the District and fellow classmates and thus
imply their uncontaminated wish andenergy to continue
serving in the District. I am planning closely
to channel this wealth of talents onto the District
level.
from
Governor
Elect,
Gloria Chan.
