It was the 28th meeting of the Rotary year. President Eddy rang the bell at 1:32pm and the attendance was 9 plus our speaker, Mr. Tenny Leung of E-Club of District 3450 and 1 guest.
We have 2 birthday boys in this month, PDG Y. K. Cheng and Rtn Tony Loy. PP Uncle John had lead the birthday songs.
President Eddy announced the Cantonese Opera fund raising event on Feb. 5, 2006 for the Hepatitis B project. The BOD of HK Island East has decided to contribute HK$2,000 for this event.
IPP Rudy reported the red box collect of HK$1,200.
We welcomed one visiting Rotarian; he is Rtn. Francesco Cavazzoni from the Rotary Club of Hong Kong South.
PDG Uncle Peter introduced the speaker Mr. Tenny Leung. Tenny is an Accountant by profession and specialized in Corporate & Financial Consultant. Mr. Leung has also served as District Secretary, District Treasurer and AG for District 3450.
Tenny had provided the background of the E-club. The E-club concept has started in 2002 when RI started the pilot and scheduled to end at 2006. After the successful implementation of the E-club for 4 years, RI extended the pilot until 2010. There are 27 E-clubs officially accepted by RI to be chartered.
Tenny has surfed through the E-club of District 3450 online. Showing the functions and features of the Website and explained how it works. The E-club members will meet face to face for community services and other activities.
The official commandment of RI accepts makeup through the Internet for any interactive surfing for over 30 minutes on any Club's Website. The E-club of District 3450 has provided facility for makeup. Members can go to the District 3450 Website and click on the E-club and then choose the "Makeup request form". You will be asked to fill in your name, club & district, a few comments on the articles posted in the previous pages and finally you will be asked the duration you have spent on this session. It is a pure honour system.
Questions on the floor
Q: How to prevent someone else to do the makeup for other members?
A: Tenny quoted the "4-way test" that Rotarians should follow.Q: How can other Rotarians join the regular E-club meeting online?
A: Logon password is required to join the meeting. Hence you must be a registered member of the E-club for the online meeting, other Rotarians will not have access to the meeting.Q: According to the commandment of RI, does that mean our HK Island East Website can also be used as a makeup facility?
A: Tenny had referred back to the RI commandment statement and apparently our method of providing Internet makeup through our Website is valid.IPP Rudy has thanked the speaker on our behalf. He appreciated Tenny who provided us a new way of member activity.
The meeting for the following week is cancelled due to CNY holiday. Next meeting is scheduled on Feb. 8th, 2006. The topic will be "Chinese Fung Shui". The meeting was closed at 2:05pm.

Joke
A contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" had reached the final plateau. If she answered the next question correctly, she would win $1,000,000. If she answered incorrectly, she would pocket only the $32,000 milestone money.
As she suspected it would be, the million-dollar question was no pushover. It was: Which of the following species of birds does not build its own nest, but instead lays its eggs in the nests of other birds? Is it:
A) the condor;
B) the buzzard;
C) the cuckoo; or
D) the vulture?"The woman was on the spot. She did not know the answer. And she was doubly on the spot because she had used up her 50/50 Lifeline and her Audience Poll Lifeline. All that remained was her Phone-a-Friend Lifeline, and the woman had hoped against hope that she would not have to use it because the only friend that she knew would be home happened to be a blonde. But the contestant had no alternative. She called her friend and gave her the question and the four choices.
The blonde responded unhesitatingly: "That's easy. The answer is C: The cuckoo." The contestant had to make a decision and make it fast. She considered employing a reverse strategy and giving Regis any answer except the one that her friend had given her. And considering that her friend was a blonde, it would seem to be the logical thing to do. On the other hand -- the blonde had responded with such confidence, such certitude, that the contestant could not help but be persuaded.
"I need an answer," said Regis.
Crossing her fingers, the contestant said, "C: The cuckoo."
"Is that your final answer?" asked Regis.
"Yes, that is my final answer."
Two seconds later, Regis said, "I regret to inform you that the answer is ............ abs olutely correct. You are now a millionaire!"
Three days later, the contestant hosted a party for her family and friends including the blonde who had helped her win the million dollars.
"Jenny, I just do not know how to thank you," said the contestant. "Because of your knowing the answer to that final question, I am now a millionaire. And do you want to know something? It was your assuredness with which you answered the question that persuaded me to go with your choice. By the way......how did you happen to know the right answer?"
"Oh, come on!" said the blonde. "Everybody knows that cuckoos don't build nests. They live in clocks.
