Introduction of New Members: Pres. Eddy gladly inducted Peter Yeung, whom had chosen Peter II as his Rotary name, as our newest member. Peter II's classification was Accounting Service - Taxation. After PP Tim's formal introduction, Peter II gave a short speech. Members sure were looking forward to hearing his vocational talk in the very near future.
Speech of the day: PE Ada Yu of Rotary Club of Shatin was originally prepared to give a talk; unfortunately she was absent due to sickness.
Rtn John V voluntarily stepped to the rostrum as an ad-hoc speaker to give his B.S. (Better Science), titled "Milk and the other side of the story":
Milk and Osteoporosis (bone thinning) - (P.P. George immediately pointed out that Rtn John V couldn't even properly pronounce the word "osteoporosis"!). To establish his creditability, Rtn John V produced his bone test reports for the last 4 years which indicated his bone density was so good that he was ranked in the peer group of young Japanese adults, strange enough, he was not a milk drinker.
Contrary to popular believe, milk was not helping the slow down of calcium loss in bones. Statistics had shown that the most milk drinking nations in Europe, especially in Northern Europe, and in North America, unfortunately had the highest rate of osteoporosis, not only in old people, but also in younger persons. People in Asia and Africa had less bone problem until they changed to Western diets.
Scientists suspected protein (amino-acids) could be the culprit, as taking too much amino acid turned the body into acidic condition that was not desirable. In order to maintain the balance, the easiest way was to extract calcium (alkaline) from the bones to neutralize the acidity state. Western diets were already high in protein, and milk was a protein rich food. Thus, if one drank more milk, more calcium would be loss in one's bone to help to keep the body's pH in balance.
It was strongly advised that instead from milk, the best source of calcium was from fruits and vegetables, e.g. soya milk (less protein content), banana, beans, broccoli, cauliflower etc.
Milk and Mad Cow Disease - (This part was censored by the Editor)
Milk and Hormones - In order for cows to produce milk all year round, female hormones, e.g. estrogen, had been used continuously to make cows in pregnant state to secrete milk. The side effects of prolong use of hormones had now evidented by the early first period of young girls which came as early as at the age of 12, 13 or even at 11. Other side effects included premature ageing of men and women.
Milk and Antibodies - It was an open secret that dairy farms used large doses of antibodies to keep milk cows away from illness. Also other chemicals were used to preserve the milk. In short, milk was a mix drink of various chemicals.
Imported Milk Powder in PRC - due to the National Secrecy Act, the content was not printed to keep Rtn. John V out of trouble.
Methods to Maintain Healthy Bones - Rtn John V stated that would be his next talk for a free lunch.
Vote of Thanks : There were 2 members to thank the speaker (speakers)!
Firstly, PP George started by saying it was the first time in his life that he declined to thank the speaker (Rtn John V, due to PP George's inscrutable smiles, requested to change to Rtn. Tony to thank him). Fortunately, Rtn John V and him were good friends for long time; the naughtiness of this buddy speaker was appreciated. He then carried on making his speech for the next 6 minutes ------------.
Thereafter Rtn. Tony thanked the speaker and PP George in another 4 minutes---------.
Next Week's Program: Since no meeting on 8 March 2006, our meeting would resume on 15 March 2006. Rtn John V informed that the guest speaker would be Ir FUNG Chi Keung, Chief Engineer of the Water Supplies Department, speech title: "Total Water Management in Hong Kong".
Meeting Adjourned: Pres. Eddy adjourned the meeting at 2:10pm with a toast to RI and coupled with Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East.

Fireman Sex
A FIREMAN came home from work one day and told his wife, "You know, we have a wonderful system at the fire station: BELL 1 rings and we all put on our jackets, BELL 2 rings and we all slide down the pole, BELL 3 rings and we're on the fire truck ready to go.
"From now on when I say BELL 1, I want you to strip naked. When say BELL 2, I want you to jump in bed. And when I say BELL 3, we are going to make love all night." The next night he came home from work and yelled, "BELL 1!" The wife promptly took all her clothes off.
When he yelled "BELL 2!", the wife jumped into bed. When he yelled "BELL 3!", they began making love. After a few minutes the wife yelled "BELL 4!" "What the hell is BELL 4?" asked the husband?
"ROLL OUT MORE HOSE," she replied, "YOU'RE NOWHERE NEAR THE FIRE!"
