Kishu. He introduced Mr.Paul Chan of Dale Carnegie Training which had a rather long history in Hong Kong. They are responsible to train many of the Hong Kong people including one graduate among us who is the first one trained by them. He is a PDG. He didn't go as far as to mention his name. But he is sitting here among us. Kishu himself was the second batch of graduates from this organization. He then ask Mr Chan to come up to speak on the subject "How To Say To Get What You Want".
He started by asking us a question. " If you want to use the telephone and there is a long line of people waiting for their turn to use the phone. How will you ask the people to let you use the phone first.?"
In a research done using two different approach.
One was. " Please may I use the phone first? My mother called me and I have to telephone her back." How will you rate this approach? What do you guess the success rate of your approach will be in terms of points. How many? 18%? A survey shows that you will only have a 58% chance of success.
If you would like to succeed you should use the "Magic Formula" as envisioned by Dale Carnegie. That is when you ask someone to do something for you or to help you, you must give the request is the correct sequence.
First you must give the incidents first. Your personel experience or facts comes first. Then second ask your request next.
For example "My mom just called me, obviously she is in trouble, and I need to call her back. May I use the phone first.?. What do you think the success rate is now. It will be 83% .
So the next time you want to ask some one for favor you should remember to use the Magic Formula.
Mr. Chan very kindly offer to answer some questions.
There was a lucky draw for a book given by the speaker which was a book titled "A Quick & Easy Way to be an Effective Speaker" won by PP Stephen Liu.
Dir Jason thank the speaker.
Pres. Henry thank everyone and closed the meeting by proposing a toast to RI coupled with the Rotary Clubs of HK North, South, and HKHarbour.

Friends,
Thank you for your kind messages following Jill's passing. I miss her terribly but am helped immensely by wonderful support from family and friends. Jill was known and loved by many people in all parts of the globe and the response to her death has been overwhelming. A fitting tribute to a great lady of character, style and charm.
Jill and I celebrated 40 years of marriage last October. How fortunate was I to have been her partner for all this time. She showed enormous courage with her battle with Melanoma cancer first diagnosed in December 2000. Jill remained positive till the end.
We will all miss her greatly. My thanks once again for your kind words.
Kind regards.Warren Wilson

SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS
HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION
10 MILESHe thinks it was a figment of his imagination and drives on without a second thought......Soon he sees another sign, which says:
SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS
HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION
5 MILESSuddenly, he begins to realize that these signs are for real.... Then he drives past a third sign saying:
SISTERS OF ST.FRANCIS
HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION
NEXT RIGHTHis curiosity gets the best of him and he pulls into the drive.... On the far side of the parking lot is a stone building with a small sign next to the door reading:
SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS He climbs the steps and rings the bell.... The door is answered by a nun in a long black habit who asks, "What may we do for you, my son?"....
He answers, "I saw your signs along the highway, and was interested in possibly doing business.".....Very well, my son. Please follow me." ... He is led through many winding passages and is soon quite disoriented....
The nun stops at a closed door and tells the man, "Please knock on this door".............
He does as he is told and another nun in a long habit, holding a tin cup answers the door..... This nun instructs, "Please place $100 in the cup, then go through the large wooden door at the end of the hallway".......
He gets $100 out of his wallet and places it in the second nuns cup..... He trots eagerly down the hall and slips through the door, pulling it shut behind him........ As the door locks behind him, he finds himself back in the parking lot, facing another small sign:GO IN PEACE YOU HAVE JUST BEEN SCREWED BY THE SISTERS OF ST.
