Last week's Proceedings -

21st November, 2006

An Intercity meeting in honour of the incumbent RI President Bill Boyd and his wife Lorna who arrived Hong Kong on 20th November 2006 from India, was held on the 21st November 2006 at the Kowloon Shangrila Hotel. We have rescheduled our weekly meeting to 21st November so that more members have the opportunity to meet the RI President in person. The following members attended the Intercity Meeting, viz., President Paul Chan, PDG Peter Hall, PP John Kwok, P-E, Laurence Chan, PP Rudy Law, IPP Eddy Wong, Rtn. Kishu Narain, Rtn. Herman Lam. Rtn. Norman Lee and Rtn. Peter Yeung.

With a total of over 400 participants at the Intercity Meeting, it proved a great success with recognition of new Paul Harris Fellows, Multiple Paul Harris Fellows of this year. Our members, such as President Paul Chan, PP John Kwok and PP Rudy Law were called to the stage to receive the certificates. The R/C of Kowloon West provided its Singing Quartet to entertain the audience. A guest Tenor singer also presented a few songs which echoed a big encore. The meeting came to an end after the photo session of the Rotary dignitaries with all the members by areas.

Club News

R/C of HKIE and its sponsored club – the R/C of Hong Kong South paid a visit to the Home of Loving Faithfulness in Fanling, N.T. together with a number of Rotaractors to entertain the handicapped persons and offered them with suitable gifts. At the same time, we inspected the newly installed industrial washing machine which the two clubs jointly donated as one of our community service projects. We were all warmly greeted by the founders of the Home, Ms Valerie Conibear and Ms Wendy Blackmur.

After the tour of the “Holf”, we all ended up with fine fellowship by means of a BBQ dinner at the Beas River Club of the HKJC. At around 9.00 p.m., we started to return by the same chartered bus back to town. A day well spent with plenty of food and wines.

Jokes
Grandpa

A man came to visit his Grandparents, and he noticed his grandfather sitting on the porch, in the rocking chair, wearing only a shirt, with
nothing on from the waist down. " Grandpa, what are you doing? Your weenie is out in the wind for everyone to see!" he exclaimed.

The old man looked off in the distance without answering.

"Grandpa, what are you doing sitting out here with nothing on below the waist?" he asked again.

The old man slowly looked at him and said, "Well...last week I sat out here with no shirt on, and I got a stiff neck. This is your grandma's idea."
