Speaker: Retirement in the New Territories with Animals & Snakes.

President Nick introduced our speaker Mr. Robin Clibborn-Dyer.  He had worked as HK Police Chief Inspector since 1965.  Currently he has retired from the police.  He is living with his wife in Shatin.  He has taken up the gardening responsibility of an abandon temple.   In addition, he rescues cats, birds, and snakes routinely in the garden.

Mr. Clibborn-Dyer has caught four 3-meter long pythons.  Last year, he thought his disappearing Geese and chicken was eaten by wildboar.   This year, his goat count was 21.    Now goat population is at 18.  He has lost a mother goat and 2 daughters.  He thinks these disappearing incidents are related to the pythons in the garden and nearby area.

The 15 min. video he brought showed 3 meter + long with a goose in the stomach initially.   The female python's jaws can be separated.  The snake with its goose in the stomach weighted 17 kg and 57.5 cm of the waist diameter with the goose.  The normal size is 33.5 cm.  Scale count has determined the species.   The snake wanted to escape.  To do that, the eaten goose has to be eliminated.

Interestingly, the Country.Club staff gradually disappeared possibly avoiding the gruesome video content.

Pesident Nick thanked our speaker in our usual Rotary way.
