Announcement:
Fellowship Chairman our ever pleasant PP Paul introduced many Rotarians from Quarry Bay and Queensway. Queensway members were so well organized that they spread out among each table. However, notably and sadly, PP John introduced her spouse Glynn possibly for the last time at our dinner meeting. PP John will be leaving us to greener pasture at the UK beginning next month. Paul Harris Fellow : PP Tom announced and surprised many of our visiting Rotarians that we are presenting a Paul Harris fellow tonight. It is our PP Raymond receiving the honor. [PP John acting very consistently was organizing the event.] Sergeant-at-arm PP John received contribution $600 and raffle $900 totalling $1,500. Speaker Mr. Lulla on "How to speak to your kids so they will listen" Our program chairman Kishore, being as funny as many of our speakers [Viagra and the business of sex therapist, hmmm¡K], introduced our speaker Mr. Lulla. He has an MA in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, and he is currently in the process of completing a PhD in Sociology from HKU. He has 12 years of work experience, including eight years in HK. He is currently counseling with "Resource the Counselling Centre". His started with his main advice is to manage "the too much" and "the too little." "The too much" is the money, time, and other resource teenagers have. The goal is to manage "a loose rope" so that it won't hang the teenagers. "The too little" is the time spent communicate with parents and consistency. After that Mr. Lulla's short speech, Mr. Lulla let us ask many questions. Here are a few points:
"People are habit." If you can change the habit, the personality will change with habit. Once an agreement is made with children, the parent must act consistently and "stick to it." CP Dennis thanked our speaker stating the necessity of his advice in view of recent events at UST. After raffle and noting this year 3 C, Creditability, Consistency, and Continuity, PP Tom and the rest of us toasted to RI. Next week speakers will be on "Outsourcing Software development." |
