The Speaker Mr. Richard Pearson Program Chairman Kishore introduced his 15-year acquaintance and speaker Mr. Richard Pearson. Our Canadian speaker has been 12 years of Managing Director of Priority Management. He is a lawyer by training. Previously, he was a member of the Rotary of Admiralty. His clients included Motorola and several big firms here in HK. He started his speech with a joke about 2 CEO trying to outrun a bear in forest. His main point is any corporation should be aware of the process of change and change in business environment. 30% of Fortune 500 companies has been unlisted since last decades showing the impact of change in today's business world. To be successful in implementing change, there are 3 factors:
Learning, the process itself, will also be a core skill. Mr. Pearson quoting a scholar that a good change executioner has to be in learning, unlearning, and re-learning. Mr. Pearson then asked us to write down the most important skill for CEO/ Manager for the future. In future, manager must excel in harnessing human skills and motivations. A manager acts like a coach to motivate his team. Rtn. IPP Nick thanked our speaker as a profession courtesy. President Gary then invited us to toast to RI. |
