Action Plan for 2000-01 was endorsed by the Board of Directors on the 1st Directors' Meeting on 19 July 2000. The action plan will be circulated to Rotarians in the coming week.

The RI theme for this is: "Create Awareness, Take Action ¡K in our club ¡K in our community ¡K in the world."

There are three major projects this year:

  1. A programme to rebuild the club by developing the quantity and quality of members. The Membership Development Program has already been introduced in April 2000.

  1. A youth & family drug education programme.. There is no finalised project at the moment. However, it is recognised that there is the need for international schools within the Club's district to educate their students and their families on drug abuse. There are about 8 international schools nearby or within the district. Such project could possibly be done together with one or two other Rotary clubs.

  1. A programme to raise the living standards of lepers in China. The programme is already in progress. PP Nick, together with doctors from Queen Mary Hospital, will visit the leper site in Sichuan to decide on further actions. The International Service Committee is currently looking for one more volunteer to join the Committee to coordinate overseas fund raising activities and international offers and perform public relations work.

Other plans include:

  1. To set up interact clubs with the nearby international schools. IPP Gary will liaise with interact club of the Hong Kong International School.

  1. To improve the knowledge on Rotary International and the Club amongst Rotarians and to encourage members to attend District Meetings.

  1. To work on improving the contents and format of the Club Bulletin.

  1. To better link the Club 888 sponsored programme with the fund raising/raffles activities. Recent progress: (a) Raffles tickets will be ready in October 2000. (b) Waiting for issuance of license number for drawing. (c) Printing of the programme will proceed once license number is obtained. (d) Members should send enquiry for tickets to Deborah.

  1. Vocational Service. To work with international schools around the district and deliver speaker programme. Members are encouraged to volunteer to speak to students once or twice a year. P.P.. Ron Lu has volunteered to join the Vocational Service Committee. One more volunteer is needed from members to join the Committee.

  1. To continue with the Club's speaker programme by inviting speakers to speak on educational and interesting topics. Topics related to the international projects are most welcome.

Everyone was invited to drink the customary toast to the Rotary International and with that the meeting ended.
