District Government John Wan Official Visit

DG John Wan was delighted to join the Rotary HK South meeting again. DG John Wan explained his responsibility as DG to visit every club at least once during the year. DG John would try to attend our HK South Club meetings as many as possible during the year.

With the assistance of AGs, DG could focus more efforts on the clubs in need. DG explained that an effective club is:

  1. To sustain membership growth.

  2. To continue to contribute to the club and the community.

  3. To provide leadership not only at club level.

DG recognised that Club HK South currently has 46 members. And in the year 2000-2001, HK South aims to increase its membership by 30%, i.e. to have 65 members by the end of 2001. DG remarked that it is an aggressive but achievable target.

DG John Wan encouraged Rotarians to attend the Rotary Foundation Seminar to learn more about the current Rotary projects. Some of the big projects might need clubs to combine their efforts. DG also suggested Rotarians to contact the New Generations coordinators to find out more ideas for Hong Kong projects particularly for youth.

President Bob thanked DG John Wan for his visit and insightful speech given to Rotary HK South.

Everyone was invited to drink the customary toast to the Rotary International and with that the meeting ended.
