resident Bob welcomed Rotarians and Rotariannes to our regular meeting.


Fellowship Chairman Bernie introduced:


  • Rtn. Alex Ling, Club of Hong Kong Island East;

  • Mr. Tom Di Canio, guest of PP Gaston;

  • Mr. Benjamin Lu, guest of PP Raymond; and

  • Rtnne. Joan, guest of PP Tom.


The following announcements were made:


  • Club 888: 133 tickets were sold so far. 250 or more tickets are to be sold in the next 3 weeks before the first draw on 19 October 2000. Rotarians are encouraged to sell more tickets. (Leading salesmen: IPP Gary-18; Rtn. Sam-16 and Rtn. Albert Wong-11.)


  • 15th October, Sunday, 10am-1pm: District Bowling Tournament at Mei Foo Sun Chuen. 4 persons to form a team. Please contact Rtn. Francesco for further information.


  • Club Quarry Bay proposed on a vocational service to visit China Light & Power Station at Castle Peak on 28 October. Whether there is age restriction will be confirmed later.


  • 4th November, Saturday: Sandy Bay Charity Fair. VP Simon is looking for (a) merchandise for sale and (b) manpower to set up store.


Sergeant-at-Arms VP Simon announced that fines and contributions totaled HK$700, the raffle raised HK$320, making total of HK$1,020.



Speaker: Mr. Peter Nixon - Who gets the money?


Mr. Peter Nixon is the Chairman of Potential Company and has experience in change management and negotiation skills. Mr. Nixon is also a Fellow of Hong Kong Society of Accountants.


Top five behaviours of negotiation skills:


  1. Identify all parties in negotiation

  2. Diagnose the needs of the people involved

  3. Analyse the current issues involved

  4. Prepare to adjust your style and culture, etc. from cooperative to competitive

  5. Use of tactics


Rtn. George thanked our speaker in his usual gracious manner.


Everyone was invited to drink the customary toast to the Rotary International and with that the meeting ended.
