Speaker:

President Kishore introduced Mr Tomson Lee, the speaker for the luncheon meeting  who   spoke  on  "Bluetooth".    Mr Lee explained that his company, Zi Corporation, is a technology company delivering  intelligent  interface  solutions  to  enhance  the   user experience of wireless and consumer technologies.  The company's core technology product connects people to short messaging, e-mail, e-commerce, Web browsing and similar applications in almost any written language.  They have offices in Calgary, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Tokyo, Stockholm and San Francisco.

Mr Lee further explained how his company supports "Bluetooth" wireless technology.    Bluetooth wireless technology is a global specification  for  low  power,   short-range,   two-way  wireless   communication.    By the year 2002, it is expected that millions of devices will have a Bluetooth interface.  Bluetooth electronic module can  be  embedded  into any electronic device allowing for direct communication  or communication through well-established global networks.  Bluetooth wireless technology enables data, images, sound, video and remote control commands to be wireless transmitted anywhere around the world.  This technology is relatively new having been officially released in July 1999.

As  potential or already consumer of Bluetooth technology this translates into an additional feature on our wireless device that will increase the convenient transmission of data wirelessly.  The speaker reaffirmed the confidentiality of this connectivity as some members expressed concern in this area.

PP  Paul  thanked  our  speaker in the usual and customary way.  President Kishore presented our speaker with a souvenir of his visit to our club.  The Speaker was invited to draw our weekly raffles which were won by IPP Bob and PP Paul.

President Kishore advised that the speaker for the next week's lunch meeting would be Mr Paul Forrest and the topic would be Orbis Project.

All Rotarians present were invited to drink the customary toast to the Rotary International.  With that, the meeting was formally closed.
