Special Weekly Bulletin on 2001.09.20

This belated bulletin is special because of our important guest and spouses attendance, not just the excellent Chinese food.

President Kishore welcomed our special guests and members to our first normal Chinese dinner meeting held at HK Golf Club. Those absent members had missed an excellent Chinese dinner.

Paul Harris Award Mr. Rusy Shroff, M.B.E.

Early this summer our board of directors has decided to award a long overdue PAUL HARRIS award to Mr. Rusy Shroff for his continuous and generous support of our Rotary Club of HK South charity events. President Kishore and PP Nick introduced Mr. & Mrs. Shroff, their numerous donations to us and other good works . It is our great pleasure to have very low profile Mr. & Mrs. Shroff to attend this award ceremony. The attached photos worth more than my words.

Our speaker Mrs. Catherine Maudsley on Sept 20th

Our speaker Mrs. Catherine Maudsley, principle of Catherine Maudsley Ltd., is in the specialty field of Chinese Art appraisal. Why HK is so important in the field of Chinese Art ? There were lots of Chinese Art transferred to HK during 1949. Currently, there is provision for HK citizen to possess Chinese art acquired previously.

Our speaker further explained the importance of Chinese Art. According to our speaker's professor regarding Chinese art, "Don't say it's beautiful". The importance is the balance and harmony of the art itself. Also, some landscape paintings were to be appreciated at a close distance to study the study details and artist's intent.

Club 888 progress report as of 2001.10.11

Despite the printer printing delay due to fire early this week, we have sold 67 tickets by email and true Rotary friendship in 2 days. However, among the 67 Club 888 members - ticket buyers, only ONE is Rotary Club of Hong Kong South member.

I would like to thank our sister club Rotary Club of Yokohama Midori and Rotary Club of Kowloon North.
