PP Nick Pirie will have two trips to Sichuan on 27th October and 14th December in order to investigate the construction work.  If any member is interested in the Leprosy Project, she / he can go with PP Nick.

The Sandy Bay Fair, raising funds for children in need, will be held on 1st November 03.  Michael Lam is so kind to offer candles and IPP Bernie Ting will donate some toys for this event.  Besides, we need members to help in our counter, so please help to sign up.

Our District Governor, Jones Wong, had a talk about the RI President 2003-4, Jonathan B. Majiyagbe.  Apart from being the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Majiyagbe is also the principal counsel in J.B. Majiyagbe & Co., which undertaking a wide commercial law practices in Nigeria.  As born in Lagos, he is a graduate of the University of London.  Since 1967, Mr. Majiyagbe has been being a member and the past president of the Rotary Club of Kano. He has been serving the Rotary International as district governor, the International Assembly instructor, committee member, director and trustee of the Rotary Foundation. He is a recipient of the Rotary Foundation Meritorious Service and the Distinguished Service Awards.

In 2003-04, Mr. Majiyagbe will ask all Rotarians to Lend a Hand.  These three words express the fundamental instinct we all share to reach out in fellowship and service, to Lend a Hand wherever it is needed in our clubs, in our vocations, in our communities and in our world:

We will Lend a Hand to alleviate abject poverty
Lend a Hand to educate the illiterate
Lend a Hand to relieve the scourge of disease
Lend a Hand of fellowship to all of the family of Rotary.

Whether we are reaching out to those in our own clubs, or reaching halfway across the world, personal involvement has always been fundamental to Rotarian service. When we Lend a Hand, we focus on this personal involvement and we celebrate our shared humanity. Working together, ready and willing to help our brothers and sisters in need, one hand can become many and there is no limit to what the helping hands of Rotary can accomplish.

Furthermore, our DG said that everyone needs to have a dream such that then you can work hard to reach your dream, like Mr. Majiyagbe, he can reach his dream.

In order to get 5 Paul Harris Fellowship this year, our PP Gary Cheung has already got 6, namely, President Peter Barrett, PP George Li, PP Gaston Chan, Stephen First, David Anderson and PP Gary Cheung himself.

Thank our Sergeant-at-Arms David Anderson for helping us to collect a total $3690 from fines and raffles, and also our Fellowship chairman, PP Paul Young, for creating an enjoyable atmosphere for all of us tonight.
