Rotary Meeting of 5 Feb, 2004

President Elect Angela welcomed visiting Rotarians PP Joop Litmaath and AG Meggy Tseung.  CP Dennis was Sergeant-at-Arms.

Rtn. Francesco announced that our next evening meeting on 19 Feb will be a wine tasting dinner.  Our Leprosy project reported much success in fund raising.  The rapid growth of the project will require a more comprehensive management structure.

Mr. W. T. Chong spoke about the MacDonald House in Shatin, near the Prince of Wales Hospital, used to house the parents of young cancer patients.   It keeps the family together in a time of great stress and need.  The parents can easily visit their children in hospital, and the children can visit their parents on weekends.  There are over 20 rooms in the house, and the nominal charge is waived if the parents are needy.  About $2 million a year is raised and MacDonald's Corp. makes up any shortfall.

In the raffle, Rtn. Fali won the bottle and President Peter won 12 golf balls...half of which he auctioned off for charity.

The meeting concluded with a toast to the Rotary Clubs of Hong Kong and Peninsula Sunrise.
