IPP
Bernie stood in for President Peter this time.
The attendance for January was 60%, which is lower than
the previous month. IPP Bernie said it is time to collect the
Club 888 prize for the draw of 2004-2005 and asked all members
to contact potential donors for prizes.
PP Nick and Mrs. Marguerite Lee were just back from
Xichang, and Rtn David will go later for local government
negotiations.
Rotary
Club of Yokohama Midori will have about 18 members attending
the RI convention and IPP Bernie said that it would be a good
opportunity for us to meet them, possibly on 22nd May at
Osaka, or at Kyoto.
Our
speaker today was Mr. Derek Elmer; the Director of I-OnAsia
Limited. Mr.
Elmer set up the company in HK and it now has 30 staff in HK
and China. I-OnAsia
provides a unique access to worldwide sources of information
on companies, individuals and potential partners or
acquisitions including targets in developing nations and
merging economics through its extensive network of global
resources.
Drawn
from the business, financial, legal, and diplomatic and law
enforcement communities and through up to date internet and
database sources, I-On Asia provides unmatched international
investigative services. Their
clients include international companies wishing to set up
joint ventures in China, but who don’t have information
about Chinese factories. I-OnAsia can provide the required
information. They will help a client who is looking for a
manufacturing partner to look at whether a factory is legal,
tidy and without child labour.
Their
service aims to satisfy all a client’s need and they will
research a client’s credentials before providing their
service. It is not easy to get information in China. I-OnAsia
have their own methods to search for the needed data. The job
is exciting and interesting and sometimes, it can be a little
dangerous.
