PP Nick
had just returned from Xichang. He said the buildings are
completed. We will have an opening ceremony later, but the
date is not confirmed yet and he hope more members can take
the opportunity to look at the hard work done by our club.
(Lillian – I cannot edit this because the meaning
is unclear. Rtn David will go to China later to talk with
Mr. Michael Chen and the licenses of the center is
negotiating with responsible government departments.)
PP Nick is in contact with HSBC Foundation Trustees
about a possible donation.
He has send out letters seeking sponsored office
space.
Our
speaker today is Mr. Anthony Lawrence introduced by Rtn John
Ball. Mr. Lawrence is a reporter of BBC. His topic was
“The Media: Not What They Used To Be”.
A brief Report from your
Fellowship Cairman :
It
was a beautiful Sunday morning on Sunday 7 March 2004 with a
perfect 18ºC at Shek Kip Mei Park where Rotary District
Tennis Tournament was organised by the host club: Rotary
Club of Kowloon North East.
16 teams
( men's doubles ), registered from 12 different Rotary
Clubs in Hong Kong , were competing for the District Tennis
Tournament Cup . Our club, Rotary Club of HK South ,
registered for the men's double Tournament and it was
represented by Rtn Ernie and Rtn Francesco.
The tournament
started at 9:30 in the morning at the presence
of the Ch.District Sport & Recreation, Ada Cheng.
After a few matches of pre-qualification, our team was
selected for the Silver Cup. A few more matches were
fiercly played and RCHKS was qualified for the Quarter
Final Match . Unfortunately the opposing team in this
match was the strongest team in the tournament and RCHKS was
defeated. Nevertheless, we were qualified for the
match for the 2nd Runner-up and after a fierce battle
with good point shots for both teams , RCHKS was able to
overcome and secure the Trophy 2nd Runner-up.
The Tournament
was concluded at 4:30 pm. and all Rotarians , tired
but satisfied after a whole day on the tennis courts
in the beautiful surrounding of Shek Kip Mei Park and
with the enjoyment of good fellowship.
