Our
speaker this evening was Ms Veronica Galbraith from Civic Exchange, who spoke to
us about a proposed Shoreline Trail that would extend from Kennedy Town to Wah
Kwai Estate. Only 10 minutes from Central, the route would connect existing
paths along the shore and improve accessibility to the sea. The path would adapt
to suit its surroundings, from a wooded trail in Kennedy Town, to the Sandy Bay
Praya, to Cyberport and Waterfall Bay Park.
Ms
Galbraith touched also on Civic Exchange’s current “Vision Project” which
looks at promoting positive urban planning and urban design in the Southern and
Western Districts, prompted by the MTR’s proposed West and South Island Lines.
Civic Exchange will be approaching the community in the following months to
gather support for careful and sustainable urban planning in the area.
