Mrs. Mei raised the issues of mooncake boxes, CDs and foams. Concerning the giveaway items Mooncake boxes: 60% of 500 Hong Kong citizens in a survey said that they just throw the mooncake boxes away, while 29.5% of the respondents did make reuse of the boxes. Mrs. Mei emphasized that both producers and consumers should bear the responsibility. While for the CDs and the foams Mrs Mei suggested these materials can be converted into other plastic products (e.g. photo frames) to recycle the “waste” and as consumers we should try reduce the production of waste by adopting the concept of “green purchasing”. |
