Lunch Meeting of 28th July 05

 

Our Fellowship Chairman today was IPP Angela and our Sergeant-at-Arms was PE Thomas. Our Sergeant-at-Arms managed to collect $1,240 between the raffle and fines.

President Tobias announced that the Rotary Foundation Seminar (Area 3) would be held on 9th of August at Bankers Club, and the 75th Golf Tournament would be held on 9th of September at Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling. The Club of Northeast has invited PDG Anthony Hung to talk about "Rotary and Youth". Their District Interact representatives (Including the President of our Interact Club) will be visiting and telling about their Bazaar and plan for the year on 29th July (Friday) at 1:00pm at World Trade Center Club. If any members are interested to participate in those events, please contact Lillian.

The 80th Birthday of Rtn Sam is on 30th July. While we joyfully celebrated his birthday, President Tobias had prepared a bottle of Whisky as a Birthday gift. Meanwhile, Rtn. Sam kindly paid for all the red wines of our lunch.

The speaker today was Ms Cecilia Yeung and the topic was "Increase Business profits - Marketing Strategies for Building Your Business". Cecilia is the Country Manager of Success Resources Hong Kong. She is a firm believer of realizing self-potential and life long learning and development. Meanwhile, she is a Marketing and Human Resources professional with over twelve years of work experience in HK prior to starting up the Hong Kong office. Cecilia came to our meeting today sharing with us a marketing strategy to increase business profit. In Hong Kong, she mentioned, most of the entrepreneurs work very hard and have longest working hours in the world. However, increase the profit is very simple and you don't need to work so hard. She introduced an idea from Mr. Jay Abraham regarding many businesses would have a lot of hidden opportunities for earning more profits. One of the opportunities was three ways of optimisation, which included increase the number of clients, enhance the value of sales, and increase the frequency in purchase. She gave some examples, one of them was when you would purchase a cup of coffee, if the Cafe would offer a free drink after your purchase of 15, then you would have the loyalty to this Cafe while the Cafe would have more sales and would earn more money at the same time. With limited time, Cecilia could only share with us some ideas, and she was so kind to give us some CDs of an interview between Mr. Jay Abraham and Mr. Tony Robins just to let us discover more ideas of making more profits. Finally, Rtn. Jim gave our thanks to her.
