Lunch Meeting of 11th August 05

Our Fellowship Chairman today was PP Tom and our Sergeant-at-Arms was Rtn Danny. Our Sergeant-at-Arms managed to collect $750 between the raffle and fines.

President Tobias was out of town, so PP Bernie helped us to host the meeting as the acting President. He announced that the 75th Golf Tournament would be held on 9th of September at Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling and the Board Meeting would be held on next Thursday (18th August) before the dinner meeting at 6:30pm.

The Wine Tasting organized by PP Gaston will be held on 2nd of November at Kellet Island, Yacht Club. The price is only HK$50 in addition to a voucher issued in the same amount for spending within the Clubhouse. Dinner is, however, not included. On the other hand, our District has organized a Rotary Elementary Dancing Class, which will be held from mid August to October. Interested members please contact Lillian.

During our Club Assembly, PP Bernie reported that the committee members of Club 888 sub-committee would have a meeting to consider the lottery licence of the raffle draw and the big prize of the draw. Afterwards, PP Paul related that the English Dialogue Sessions organised by our Club could help the Primary School to attract more children to be admitted into schools. While PP George explained that the Leprosy Project would still be working on how to get the Charity Status to prevent the non-applicable tax, they would have a meeting on next Tuesday (16th August) at PP Kishore's office at 6:30pm. He, furthermore, suggested the Club should transfer the donation to the project only after the project would be granted the Charity Status. In addition, PP George reported to us that Rtn Ernie had sent his resignation to the Club, and PP George further suggested that members would need to think about the strategies for recruiting more new members.

The meeting of next Thursday will be our dinner meeting. We will have Mr. Robert Liwall to be our speaker and the topic is "Cycling Home form Siberia." In addition, Rtn Emily has invited Mr. Warren Mok to talk to us for about 10 minutes.
