Dinner Meeting of 15th September 05

 

Our Fellowship Chairman today was PP Paul and our Sergeant-at-Arms was Rtn Stephane. Our Sergeant-at-Arms managed to collect $470 between the raffle and fines.

President Tobias was out of town today and PE Thomas was the acting President. He announced that the Wine Tasting organized by PP Gaston would be held on 2nd of November at Kellet Island, Yacht Club. For the Wine Tasting at Kellet Island, the price is only HK$50 in addition to a voucher issued in the same amount for spending within the Clubhouse. Dinner is, however, not included. Katrina Charity Cruise, organized by President Tobias to raise fund for the victims of Katrina, will be held on 19th September. In addition, District Rotary Foundation Seminar will be held on Hotel Miramar on 5th November. Next, the Photo competition and exhibition held by club of Northeast will have launching ceremony on 6th October at Exchange Square. Interested members please contact Lillian.

Our speaker today was Mr. Sajeev Menon and Mr. Raymond Ng. Their topic was "Introduction of the art of Living Foundation and a Stress Free Life". The Art of Living Foundation, is an international nonprofits educational, charitable, and humanitarian organization offering programs in more than 142 countries around the world. They offer programs that eliminate stress, create a sense of belonging, restore human values, and encourage people from all backgrounds, religions, and cultural traditions to come together in celebration and service. Mr. Menon introduced to us that Mind Control is very important; to control your mind is through proper breathing. He showed us how to breath and let us experience with him the technique of mind control and relax. Then, Mr. Raymond Ng, who is the Chief Inspector of Police, shared his experience with us. Mr. Ng said as a police, he suffered high pressure and burn out of his body which led to a lot of health problems. After the training for about 3 months, he had recovered 80-90% of his health problems. The Art of Living courses adapt ancient wisdom and yogic practices to enrich modern life. These courses offer practical methods to eliminate stress and enhance all aspects of individual life. For every rhythm in the mind, there is a corresponding rhythm in the breath, for every rhythm in the breath there is a corresponding emotion. Mind & emotions can be handled by attending to the breath. These courses teach us to use the Breath to bring our minds into the present moment, where joy, clarity and peace of mind reside.
