| Lunch Meeting of 22nd September 05 |
|
Our Fellowship Chairman today was PP Tom and our Sergeant-at-Arms was PP Peter. Our Sergeant-at-Arms managed to collect $1100 between the raffle and fines. Today we had DG Visit. Before the lunch meeting, DG Peter Wan, AG Lawrence Li, Deputy District Secretary Jason Chan and PDG Anthony Hung had a private meeting with our President Tobias and Board Members. President Tobias welcomed the coming of DG, AG, DDS and PDG. Then, he announced that the Wine Tasting organized by PP Gaston would be held on 2nd of November at Kellet Island, Yacht Club. For the Wine Tasting at Kellet Island, the price is only HK$50 in addition to a voucher issued in the same amount for spending within the Clubhouse. Dinner is, however, not included. While our District Rotary Foundation Seminar will be held on Hotel Miramar on 5th November, the Photo competition and exhibition held by club of Northeast will have launching ceremony on 6th October at Exchange Square. In addition, Rotary Club of Wanchai will have a cocktail party with Alliance for Smiles in Costa Restaurant at IFC on 22nd September. Interested members please contact Lillian. PDG Anthony said he was in charge of training of member this year, and he would organize training for new member or potential member at Rotary Information Centre in the evening. DG Peter Wan announced to us that the theme of this year was "Service Above Self" and he had set a target of a net increase of one member per club for us. The important task of each club was finding potential member and retaining the member. Our District had tried to organize the Rotary International Conference twice but failed, we would try again to apply for the conference on 2013. The host for 2007 conference would be New Orleans. Due to the disaster of Katrina, the Rotary International might switch the organizing District. DG would like to seek for our comment if our District could be the host. For this kind of big event, 2 years preparation would not be enough. However, our members would welcome and happy if our District could be the host. The District Installation held before had 700 members to join, and we hoped that there would have more members to join the District events. The District Conference would be held on 22-23 April at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. DG would form a committee to organize the District Conference, in which would include all of the Club Presidents to generate more new ideas and to make it more enjoyable. For the time constraint, DG stopped his speech and would be happy to come again later.
