The speaker of today was Ms. Virginia Seung and her topic was “District Rotaract Service Project “It's Family, It's Harmony.”.  Virginia is the Chairlady of District Rotaract Club. She organized the project with Harmony House. Harmony House is the local Charity organization providing protection, caring and empowerment of women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  They counsel and give guidance to batter the cycle of violence, and they provide education to the community at large as well as specific target groups in order to promote family harmony.  In 2003-4, the shelter admission of women and children is over 200 and 192 respectively.  They received over 8000 calls in one year, apart from statistics; the family problem, obviously, in Hong Kong is really serious.  The Rotaract Club has targeted to raise $50,000.00 from Rotary Clubs and will have other fund raising function in the public.  The purpose is to donate the “Harmony Express” to Harmony House for educating students and the public the importance of family harmony.
