Lunch Meeting of 9th March 06
 

Our Fellowship Chairman today was PE Thomas and our Sergeant-at-Arms was PP Bernie.  Our Sergeant-at-Arms managed to collect $1,300 between the raffle and fines.

President Tobias announced that the District Conference would be held between 22nd and 23rd of April 2006 at Regal Airport Hotel.  The RI Convention, on the other hand, would be held from 11th to14th of June 2006 at Copenhagen and Malmo. 

Club 888 is ready now.  Currently, we have only sold about 238 tickets. We need to work hard in selling more tickets.  Our lucky draw will take place on 17th March (Friday) at China Club instead of dinner meeting on 16th March (Thursday).  PP Peter organized the trip to Japan to visit our sister club Yokohama Midori and sightseeing from 3rd to 6th of April 06.  If members are interested to join, please contact Lillian.  In addition, we will have joint meeting with Rotary Club of Hong Kong in May at Bankers Club.

Rtn Christophe will visit Crossroads this Saturday (11th March) and welcome any member to go with him.  He has organized with Rotary Club of Cairo South to help them locating some second hand beddings form Hotels.  

The speaker of today was Mr. Jacob Anderson and his topic was “American Sports”.  Jacob is Rotary Ambassadorial from US, and he is now taking a Master course at HKUST for Social Science.  He likes to play baseball, which is a very popular sport in US.  Baseball, according to Jacob, is a relaxed, outdoor game for him, while the game has become a big business in US.  Also, he introduced the history and situation of baseball in US to us.  He said that his baseball team is one of the worst one, always lose in the game, but he enjoys the team spirit and every game.
