Our Fellowship Chairman today was Rtn Paul and our Sergeant-at-Arms was Rtn Danny. Our Sergeant-at-Arms managed to collect $1,490 between the raffle and fines. Today President Tobias announced that the District Handover Ceremony will be held on 22 July (Sat) at Hongkong International Trade and Exhibition Centre at Kowloon Bay, and our club will reserve one table for members. Also, we will have EGM at the lunch meeting on 29th June 06. PE Thomas reported that the last session of the English Dialogue Session willbe held on 24th June (Sat) at noon time. The students will have performances, and he welcomes our members to attend. The speaker of today was Mr. Tom Mehrmann. His topic was “Ocean Park – Opportunities in a Competitive Market”. He started his career in the theme park industry in the US in 1977, and now he is the Chief Executive of Ocean Park. Facing the competition from Disney, he has study the business cases from Japan and France to come up with a strategic plan. Furthermore, Ocean Park has its own opportunities. For example, the park has the support driven from local loyalties, its products are different and have market relevancy . Also Ocean Park has set up a sales representative office in China to have a better connection with the Chinnese tourism industry. Most importantly, it also has a master plan for re-development. In the plan, it will have three new hotels and many new games and sites. New additions will include Marine World, Rainforest, Thrill Mountain, and Polar Adventure. Those constructions will be completed on 2010, and after the completion, Ocean Park will be a totally different and much improved park. Tom brought us some funny commercials and the master plan for us to have a first look, which were so attractive we can’t wait to visit Ocean Park again.
