The Rotary Club of Macau lslands was established in 1996. The idea behind starting this club began under the District Governorship of Y.K. Cheng. Concerned with maintaining a group of dedicated Rotaractors, in Rotary, plans began for the formation of a Rotary Club that these Rotaractors could enter and maintain the fellowship and community service spirit they had built up together as Rotaractors. These Rotaractors, coming from the different Rotaract Clubs in Macau became the backbone members. Together with other young professionals from various occupational backgrounds they formed the chartered members of the club. Under the Charter Presidency of Santos Chu and with the aid of various Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Macau Central, the Rotary Club of Macau Islands was established under District 3450. The club's year plan was then formed and activities were implemented under the four avenues of service, which to date are still being continued.
