Dear members of DMC and Lead the Way Presidents, DRR and Lead the Way Rotaract Presidents,

I am writing this message to you to ask for your help in nominating candidates as Team Members of the Group Study Exchange program for 2007. Up to now we have not had many enquiries on this years GSE team membership. We therefore have extended the deadline for application as a team member to 15 November 2006. I have set out below the essential information about this GSE for 2007 for your attention.

Paired District for Rotary Year 2006-2007

During Rotary year 2006-2007, District 3450 will have one outbound team and one inbound team with District 1090 in the United Kingdom. District 1090 stretches from Banbury in the North, to the end of London in the South East, much of it being situated in the Thames Valley. It consists of 61 Clubs in the counties of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Middlesex.

Timing of the 2006-2007 GSE

It is tentatively planned that the outbound team from District 3450 will leave Hong Kong on 22nd March 2007 and return to Hong Kong on 21 April 2007. The inbound team is expected to arrive Hong Kong 19th May 2007 and to depart for U.K. on 15th June 2007. Both inbound and outbound teams are expected to attend the respective district conferences of the host districts. The district conference of District 1090 is expected to be held between 30 March to 1 April 2007 while our district conference will be held between 26th to 27th May 2007.

Deadline for application as team member

The deadline for application as a team member is 15 November 2006.

Eligible candidates

Team member candidates must:-
• Be currently employed for at least two years in any recognized business or
• professional on a full-time basis to have the maximum long-term impact
• on their career development.
• Be 25 to 40 years of age at the time of application.
• Work or live in District 3450.
• Rotaractors fulfilling the above requirements are encouraged to apply.

Ineligible Rules

The following are illegible for being selected as a GSE team member:-
• A Rotarian or honorary Rotarian;
• An employee of a Rotary Club;
• Any Rotarian or Rotary employee spouse, ancestor (parent or
• grandparent by blood), lineal descendant (child or grandchild by blood
• and any legally adopted child) or spouse of a lineal descendant;
• The spouse of another team member;
• A former Rotarian who resigned from Rotary within three years

Application procedures

Interested candidates are request to complete the application form, sign it and have the form signed by the sponsoring Rotary Club as endorsement and submit it to The Rotary Information Centre at 14/F Capital Commercial Building, 26 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong or to me at the following address:-

Workshop on Group Study Exchange

The District Rotary Foundation Committee is organizing a workshop on the Group Study Exchange to be held on Friday 20 October, 2006 from 6:30p.m. to 9:00p.m. You are invited to come to know more about GSE and to share your views. Please also encourage your club members and Rotaractors to come to the workshop on that day. Please register your attendance by reply to this email to ric@rotary3450.org as soon as possible.
