Kuong - Rotarians & Rotaractors raised MOP 102,200 and visited
1,500 Macao families to promote SARS combating

With the support of the fellow Rotarians, and voluntary assistance
from Macau Flying Eagle Club, The Rotary Club of Hou Kuong,
Macao, has raised MOP 102,200 (app. HK$100,000) for the organization
of an Anti-SARS Campaign in Macao. With this fund raised, the
Club has purchased 1,500 packs of Anti-SARS protective accessories.
Each pack consisted of a bottle of 3.75 lit. household bleach
liquid, a pack of 50-pc face mask, a unit of thermometer. 500
units of these thermometer were donated by the Health Bureau
of The Government of The Macao Special Administrative Region.
Inside the packs, there were also Anti-SARS and Anti-Denque
Fever information leaflets. These gifts were packed inside environmental
friendly bags with the Rotary emblem and club name printed on.
The Club has selected several estates housing about 1,500 low
income families. On Sunday, 18 May, 2003, Hou Kuong Rotarians,
Rotaractors, and other volunteers visited these families door
by door to give out these Anti-SARS hygiene packs. The kick
off ceremony was held at 11 AM in the morning at the open square
of Iao Hon Park. Government official Mr. TAM Chun Wing, Secretary
of Social Affairs & Culture, officiated at the ceremony.
Followed by lion dances, Rotarians, Rotaractors and members
of the Macau Flying Eagle Club formed 3 teams to distribute
the Anti-SARS packs to the community. Press were invited to
report the event, including "The Macau Daily" and
"Va Kio Journal". Within just 2 weeks from the first
minute of planning, the campaign were successfully launched.
濠江扶輪社於澳門舉辦對抗非典型肺炎活動，各社友熱心捐獻、及澳門少年飛鷹會借出百多名少年飛鷹義助，已籌得葡幣102,200元經費、挑選了數座平民大廈（約1,500戶、佔澳門社工局屬下之平民大廈半數）.於5月18日（星期日）上門派發愛心防炎物品：包括1個印有扶輪社標誌之環保袋，內附1支3.75公升裝漂白水、1盒50個裝口罩、1支探熱針、防炎及登革熱宣傳單張
(其中500支探熱針由澳門衛生局送出)。為隆重其事，此項活動被命名為派發愛心防炎物品大行動，活動口號為『濠江扶輪獻愛心、齊來抗炎搞衛生』，是日早上十一時假黑沙環祐漢公園廣場舉行開幕儀式，社會文化司司長辦公室主任譚俊榮先生親臨致詞、主持剪綵及醒獅點睛儀式；儀式之後,由3頭醒獅、兵分3路率領少年飛鷹前往派發愛心防炎物品；有關活動之詳情亦於「澳門日報」、「華僑報」、「大眾報」及全澳各大中文報章內刊登。
整項活動由少年飛鷹會及濠江扶輪青年服務團協辦，整個活動由構思到實行只短短兩星期.
