China Snow Disaster Relief Fund
4th February 2008

Dear Rotary Shares Leaders

I honestly believe that over the past two weeks we have heard enough of the difficulties and disasters inflicted on the workers seeking New Year family reunion up north, drivers and passengers stranded in highways and people with damaged homes or homes without electricity and heating power in the snow storm affected areas of the southern provinces of China.

There is no sign that the snow storm will go away in the coming weeks and these affected areas are totally exposed, vulnerable and in a state of calamity. Hundreds of thousand if not millions of people are suffering from freezing cold, hunger and without proper shelters.

Under this bleak situation, Rotary as an organization caring for humanity should come to its relief in whatever capacity we can.

Knowing the urgency, I would like to appeal to all Clubs and their members to give generously to the China Snow Disaster Relief Fund to be directed to the Ministry of Civil Administration. In order to be meaningful, I would image that the fund should be at no less than HK$200,000.00.

For your information, the following donations have been committed:

DG Peter Wong HK$20,000.00
IPDG Tony Wong HK$10,000.00
DS Albert Poon HK$10,000.00
PDG John Wan HK$2,000.00
PP Edmond Chan HK$2,000.00

I would expect each Shares President to collect the donations from your Club and members and make out a cheque payable to ¡§Rotary District 3450 Charitable Fund Ltd.¡¨ and credit to its account No.400-140711-001 with HSBC (004) or send the cheque to RIC. Please remember to state the name and amount of each donor and fax or email the pay-in slip to Ms Melody Kwok of RIC, so that a tax exempt receipt will be issued thereafter.

Please act fast hopefully before the end of February.

Yours in Rotary
DG Peter Wong
