My Dear Fellow Rotary / Rotaract Leaders:
The below attached is a letter by Frank Yih (former Taipei Rotarian
but now is Shanghai, a Shanghaiese that speaks fluent Cantonese)
to his club leaders telling a wonderful story of Rotarian-in-Action
on Project "Gift of Life" to a Twin Sisters. I received
this yesterday from Past President Randal Eastman of The Rotary
Club of Shanghai (Provisional). May I share this with your members.
Thank you.

June 20, 2003.
Dear Brinton and Travis:
Five of the 12 Jiangxi kids went home leaving 7 here. Five of
them will go home next week and the last 2 surgeries are pending
on their daily conditions. Six new arrivals making total Jiangxi
kids 12 + 6 = 18. Among all the beneficiaries, the Twins are
remarkable. Both Snow (Jia-Xue) and Spring (Jia-Chun) are only
2 minutes apart at time of birth, both suffering from the same
congenital heart disease, with both parents suffering from Polio
at tender ages which of course is another Rotary International
successful story of "Polio Eradication" project. It
is like God's wish to bring Peng Twins and Shanghai Rotary get-to-gather.
Snow was operated on June 18 and Spring is scheduled for June
25, or 9 days apart after recommendation from Jock calling in
Spring after last June board meeting hence not to break up "Twin
Reunion" -- a very admirable and noble act.
The attached photos will tell how happy the family is now in
Shanghai. Today Snow left ICU and is resting in regular children
ward with grandparents and younger twin by her side. When I
saw her, she was eating well in better spirits hence will gain
her health shortly.
JiangXi Pictorial Magazine reporter Lee Zhihou, who came with
Spring, suggested the Hospital to take all the kids if they
are up to it and their families for sightseeing around Shanghai
like The Bund and Pudong, on Tuesday, June 24, at around 2:30
pm by the hospital coach. So that they all will have a good
impression and idea of what Shanghai is. Dr. Chen and reporter
Lee suggested we Rotary Club to invite a few so-called foreigners
(Nancy and I are considered to be Chinese) to come along hence
making more cozy pictures, highlighting "East & West
Goodwill and Understanding".
May I invite members and guests whoever interested in "Gift
of Life", and all the Jiangxi kids to come along and to
bring smiles and laughter on all children's faces making an
outing that they will never forget, fond memory of their stay
in Shanghai. The Twins are particularly good story and will
attract lots of publicity internationally. I am so impressed
with the Twins and will do Part 2 to follow up with their education,
and to see them getting into a good school and learning more
English and computer skills. Both are second year in Junior
High and can speak some English like "My name is Snow.",
etc. I like to see Brinton and Dragan, Jock and Vickie and their
friend Susie, Travis and Gayle, Frank and Nancy, Ivan and Randal
since Dr, Chen has asked for. If you feel a casual late lunch
say around 12:30 in Seafood Restaurant opposite to Chest Hospital
is appropriate, I shall be glad to be the host. We may finish
at around 2 pm. The tour will then start at around 2:30 after
30 minutes of shooting in the Children's Ward. Is this occasion
appropriate for TV shooting?
Regards
