There
are currently 72 Agencies in the NGO databank.

Through work and research by the Council of Social Service and
myself, we have compiled this list of NGOs which we believe
would be good partners for our club’s Community and Vocational
projects.
There are four main Categories for classifying the NGO
services:
Children
and Youth
Family
and Community
Elderly
Service
Rehabilitation
Service
Goals
of this Data Bank
1. We hope each club will at least try to contact one or more
of these NGOs and look at possibilities of assisting these
NGOs with their work.
2. These NGOs have various projects that require aid, sponsorship
and also hands-on involvement, so it can be a very convenient
way for Clubs to take part in some meaningful projects without
having to start them from scratch.
3. At the end of the Rotary year, both the District and Council
of Social Services would like to acknowledge those clubs who
have been involved in partnerships with these NGOs on the
list.
4. The Council of Social Service also has Media coverage and
a Public Relationship Department which are most willing to
promote any partnerships with our Rotary club in projects
in the District.
5. The Council of Social Service and the district project
chairperson can also provide liaison with and answer enquiries
from any club wanting to work with a target group.
6. We hope to build up this data bank as one of the main sources
of information from the District for the Clubs
7. We will also report projects that have been reported back
to the District Project Chairperson: PP Grace Young of Rotary
club of Mid Level.
8. We also hope to create a statistical report by the end
of this Rotary year to review the projects in the four main
categories shown below.
How we selected the NGO list:
Among the hundreds of NGOs that we have studied, we have based
our selection on the following criteria:
1. NGOs which are not well funded and would need help from
outside resources.
2. NGOs with an expenditure of mostly less than 3 million
a year. Some do have a higher annual expenditure but the majority
of the NGO’s we have selected do not.
3. NGOs which do not have plenty of man-power support and
would need external hands-on help for some projects.
4. Many of the NGOs we have selected are what we called Self
Help group organization.
5. We have made our selection according to four focus Categories
and our selection is divided almost evenly between these categories.
6. More newly established NGOs that are involved with the
most pressing needs of the society.
