World Peace Scholarships

Dear
Prospective Candidates,
I
set out below some of the commonly asked questions concerning
the Rotary World Peace Scholarship :
1.
We are now receiving applications for this Scholarship
to pursue a two-year master's level degree in international
studies, peace studies, and conflict resolution at designated
universities in USA, Japan, France, England, Argentina
and Australia for the 2004/2006 academic years.
2.

3.
The scholarship will cover the cost of the requisite
tuition, room and boarding for the two-year master degree
programme, transportation from District 3450 to the
university and vice versa and a contingency fund for
the cost of books and supplies etc.
4.
There will be 70 such scholarships to be awarded all
over the world, that is, ten for each of the seven designated
universities. The successful candidate from District
3450 will be nominated to compete with the applicants
nominated by the other districts on a worldwide basis.
5.
Applicants must have :-
a.
The academic background, training and work experience
required for the requisite master degree,
b. Proficiency in more than one language,
c. Excellent leadership skills,
d. A demonstrated commitment to peace and international
understanding through their personal and
e. Citizenship in a country in which there is a Rotary
club.
6.
Children and grandchildren of Rotarians cannot apply
for the Scholarship. However, Rylarians, Rotaractors
and Interactors are welcome to apply.
7.
The applicant will have to secure admission to the relevant
universities directly after notice of the award. The
award itself does not guarantee admission to the universities.
8.
The first selection interview will be held in Hong Kong
in April 2003.
9.
This scholarship is different from the other academic,
multi-year and/or cultural ambassadorial scholarships
granted by District 3450 annually.
10.

All completed application forms should be submitted
to a Rotary Club c/o The Rotary Information Centre at
14th Floor, Capital Commercial Building, 26 Leighton
Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong on or before 30th June,
2003.
12.
