President's Message

Our 2006-07 Rotary International President, Bill Boyd chose‘Lead the Way’ as the theme for his presidency for the new rotary year.

R1 President Bill Boyd attached great importance to the work of Rotary Clubs at district level and recognizing them for their hard work and contributions towards Rotary.  He said, “By following the Rotary ideal, we will strengthen our communities and together ‘lead the way’ to a better future”.

As president for the Rotary Club of Tai Po, I certainly take encouragement from our RI President to lead the way in serving the club and our community.

Over the years, we have done many meaningful projects such as building a school in rural China, understanding a youth exchange programme, getting involved in fight crime projects, giving a helping hand to old age people, providing finance to those in need and many more.

This year we aim to extend our assistance to handicapped people as well as looking further afield on international cooperations.

Our Club

We are a small yet dynamic club comprising business and professional persons united by the ideal of service in Rotary - Lead the way which is also the theme for this Rotary Year. Our members' profile can be found at [Members' List]

Our Meetings

We have regular dinner meetings every Monday at the Royal Park Hotel Shatin at 7:00 p.m.. Feel free to check our Speaker Program for our regular meetings at [Meeting Schedule]

Services

As with most Rotary clubs, our services are divided into 4 categories:

Club service in the form of fellowship activities involving family members and acquaintances are arranged regularly throughout the year. The Rotary Club of Tai Po is also well known for its sports achievements in the District.

Even though our Vocational and Community services tend to cater mainly for the Tai Po district; whenever, the need arises, our services tentacles will also spread to the whole community in Hong Kong. We work hand in hand with various organizations, notably the Salvation Army, Tai Po Fight Crime Committee, Hong Kong Mental Health Association, the Rotaract Club of Tai Po, and of course our District, Rotary District 3450 (Hong Kong, Macau & Mongolia).

On the International front, we work with our sister Clubs, the Rotary Club of Taipei and the Rotary Club of Alabang in the Philippines for services abroad.

The Pledge

The 4-way Test guides the act of each Rotarian :

Of the things we think, say or do
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

If each one of us can just give a little bit more, the world will change for the better. Let me end by sharing with you a QUOTE from Rotary History:

"If we really want to love, if we really want to live, we must love until it hurts... No Rotarian whose motto is Service Above Self, I think, should call himself a Rotarian if he does not make time to serve... If we love, we begin to serve..."
